Linda Jaivin is the author of eleven books, including seven novels; The Infernal Optimist was shortlisted for the 2007 Australian Literature Society Gold Medal. She is also a writer of short and long-form essays, including cultural criticism and arts writing. Her writing on visual arts has appeared in publications including Artlink, Artist Profile, Australian Art Collector, Sturgeon and Art and Asia Pacific (now ArtAsiaPacific), as well as for the Queensland Art Gallery’s catalogue Andy Warhol (‘Andy Warhol and the Ticking Clock of Fame’). She has written widely about Chinese art and artists in China and Australia, including for the popular press. In 2018 she made a short, four-part radio documentary on the state of arts criticism in Australia for Radio National’s The Art Show titled Situation Critical. She lives in Sydney.
