Kate Warren is Lecturer of Art History and Curatorship at the Australian National University. She received her PhD from Monash University in 2016 and her research interests cover film, video, photography, contemporary Australian and international art, arts writing and criticism. Her current research project investigates histories of arts writing and art history in popular Australian media.
Warren’s scholarly writings have appeared in journals including the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Art, EMAJ: Online Journal of Art, Senses of Cinema, Persona Studies, History of Photography, Philosophy of Photography and Discipline. She is the author of dozens of catalogue essays and reviews, and co-editor of Peephole (with Whitney Monaghan and Belinda Glynn), an online journal dedicated to creative film criticism. Previously she was Assistant Curator at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image, and she has curated collaborative exhibitions with 4A Centre for Contemporary Asian Art, Channels Video Art Festival, and Blindside Gallery.
