Field, Caroline

Caroline Field has been Curator of the Australian Catholic University Art Collection since 2016, and is highly regarded for her expertise in Australian and International art.

Caroline was Manager, Australian Galleries, Melbourne (2006–2011) and an Honorary Creative Fellow at the State Library of Victoria (2012–2016). Her book, Australian Galleries: The Purves Family Business, The First Four Decades 1956–1999, was published in 2019.

Her roles include Director of Horsham Regional Art Gallery; Curator of the Deakin University Art Collection; and Founding Director of Deakin University’s Stonington Stables Museum of Art (Toorak campus) and the Deakin University Art Gallery (Burwood campus).

Caroline holds a Graduate Diploma in Fine Arts (Printmaking), Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology; a Master of Arts (Fine Arts), University of Melbourne; and a Graduate Diploma in Museum Studies, Deakin University. She was awarded the Sarah and William Holmes Scholarship at the British Museum, London, in 1995.
